Welcome
The year 2005 marks a milestone in the history of the School of
Nursing at the American University of Beirut. We are proud to be
celebrating our centennial. The school was founded on October 6,
1905. It was the first nursing school in the Middle East. Its
mission has always been the promotion of the highest educational
standards of excellence, integrity, and professionalism in the
science of nursing.
Since its inception, the school has graduated more than 3,000
students who currently occupy leadership positions in Lebanon,
the region, and internationally.
To celebrate this special occasion marking the first
centennial for the School of Nursing, a number of activities
will take place starting January 2005 and culminating in this
international scientific conference. |

The conference will be held in close collaboration with a number
of distinguished partners in the United States.
On behalf of an exceptionally dedicated faculty, it gives me great
pleasure to invite you to Lebanon and to the American University
of Beirut to help us celebrate this unique milestone and landmark
in the history
of nursing education in the region. I am confident that this
conference will provide opportunities to discuss advances in
nursing knowledge, to establish new collaborative partnerships,
and to enjoy the beauty of Beirut and Lebanon, a country rich in
history, and known for its hospitality and cultural riches.
We look forward to seeing you in Beirut.
